Description
Robust and traditionally styled chunky basswood ply picture blocks, colour printed on both sides with real images of different characters. Perfect for young children to engage in imaginative play and develop their descriptive language skills.
The 20mm thick wooden blocks are smooth to touch and easy for small children to handle and provide positive role model images for older children to discuss.
The realistic images will enable younger children to recognise and relate to the characteristics of other people and encourage older children to visualise them for story-telling, drama work, and when learning about different cultures, backgrounds and lifestyles.
Includes 8 children and 24 adults representing a variety of ages, professions, cultures, religions and disabilities.

These are amazing. They're a great size, about three inches high and about an inch thick, so good for small hands to manipulate and sturdy enough not to be a choke hazard. The quality is great. The figures have photographs of people doing different jobs and things on them, and they're fantastic. It's great to see all ages and ethnicities represented here as well as people with disabilities. I also loved the fact that there were girl doctors and soldiers as well. I was blown away by how brilliant the set is. Highly recommended.

These wonderfully made blocks, in assorted sizes are smooth and well polished (meaning no splinters!) but have an individual character etched into both sides of the pieces. There are children of different races, genders and skin colours, able bodied and in wheel chairs. There are younger people, those in early working years, middle ages and the elderly; there are those clearly in working clothes and a number of different uniforms (military, police, fire, doctor etc) and a delivery man, a pregnant woman and some in different ethnic clothes. Without doubt these characters reflect a multi-cultural society, but depending where you live they may not represent your community, but opening up children to these different people is part of the joy of learning and will help them recognise the different figures when they do encounter them.
The pictures do not rub off the blocks - they are not stuck on as transfers, and I would suggest that they will take the rough and tumble of childhood play for a long time. Child figures are smaller than adult figures and those in wheel chairs are wider - all to give a sense of scale.
They are ideal for a playgroup or early school class - which average around 32 - so they can each be given one for play to interact with other children. TEACHERS look at these and consider them for your early years children.
An excellent play set that you can do an awful lot with! Great value too!
