Description
This Geiger counter can be used to count the number of decays from various radioactive sources.
The decay is heard as the "geiger counter sound" – one click for each registered impulse from the GM tube, and the result can be read on the LCD display, while also being registered in the counter's memory.
The counter can make both single measurements and repeated measurement series. In the latter case, the latest complete count number is displayed for an entire measurement period - at the same time as the new measurement counts up in a secondary display.
The measurement periods can be selected for these fixed time intervals: 1, 10, 60, 100 or 300 seconds. You can also choose to hear a low beep after each measurement period. In addition to the fixed intervals, you can also count for an unlimited time.
The counter can be connected to GM tubes with both BNC and Jack connectors. (See related items.)
GM tubes with BNC connectors can be supplied with voltages between 300 and 700 V in steps of 1 V. Tubes from Frederiksen Scientific work optimally at 500 V, which is the setting of the GM counter on delivery.
The regulation makes it possible to measure the counting characteristic of the GM tube. The count can be read while setting the voltage.
By default, data is automatically sent in a continuous stream. With the use of Microsoft Excel (and the extension program Datastreamer), live data can be transferred in a spreadsheet - see the template for the spreadsheet under documents.
Specifications
The operating voltage of the GM counter takes place with six pcs. 1.5 V AA batteries (this gives several days of battery life) - these are included.
There is also the option of connecting a power adapter, which can be purchased additionally on item no. 355050.
"Stand by" occurs automatically after one hour of inactivity.
There is also an external audio output with a mini jack for e.g. speaker.
Dimensions: 234mm x 108mm x 65mm.
